I went on a major search for a good quality, heavy-weight, medium-sized stockpot. I already own Le Creuset, All-Clad & Lodge Cast Iron pots, but needed a 'go to' size & shape. After a lot of deliberation, I ordered this based on the description and Henckels reputation, without having seen any 'in person'. I LOVE IT! It is heavy enough to keep bottom from scorching easily with long simmered stews, but not so heavy as to be unwieldy. Most 8-qt pots are wider & not quite as tall. I find I much prefer this shape. I bought these knives because I'm tired of buying new knives every year. The handles on these are perfect for any level of chef. This is a variation of my review of the J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 13-Piece Knife Set. But this 16-piece set is the one I'd recommend, so here goes... My wife and I have been using the Forged Synergy knives for about 2 years, and we couldn't be happier with them. Being an amateur cook, I didn't think spending 100+ dollars for a knife is a sound investment. I mean come on it's only a knife! But after my grandmother bought me a set of Henckel's five star, I realized the value of it. I use this for deboning, chopping, dicing and everything else I can get my hands on. It's sharp enough to do the job but not sharp enough for it to cut your fingers if you accidentally touch the blade. Plus the ergonomic grip is a true blessing since I hate the feel of the traditional knife grips. I think this is the best practical knife out there.
